2020 Calendars

15% off all calendars! Use code ONEFIVE at checkout. Expires Oct 31.

I'm offering four calendars for 2020. Bears, Smoky Mountains, Owls and my hometown, Phoenix. To make my calendars available to everyone, they can only be purchased online. Please save the link below for future reference. Sharing with your friends is greatly appreciated!

Everyone uses a calendar and these make great, inexpensive gifts! The calendars are large, 11 x 17, with ample space to make notes on dates. They are very high quality, heavy stock prints; not flimsy, cheap paper.

When you purchase my prints or products, you are supporting me with the financial ability to continue my photographic journey, so I may share my images, information and stories freely online for your daily enjoyment. Thank you to everyone who has supported me today and in the past!

How important is location?

How important is location?

We know that location for a landscape shot is selected solely by the photographer, but how critical is location and how closely do you really look into your composition before opening the shutter? I see my scenes in stages. The initial attraction to a general area, plus a quick review of distant and close objects to tie the image together. That's the big picture.

What comes next is what makes or breaks the image! Once you've decided on your spot, you have the crucial decisions of perspective. HIgh, low, right, left. Pay close attention to the corners of your composition and how the lines, colors and shades draw the viewer toward your focal point. Moving the camera 1" in any direction can dramatically change the look of the image.
